Keto expert giving workshop in Whetstone

Doug and Roma Payne

Doug and Roma Payne, founders of the Keto Center in Pearce, Arizona where people come from all over the country to learn the benefits of the Ketogenic Therapeutic Diet to reverse obesity and Type 2 Diabetes..

The workshop will focus on the “application and consensus report from the American Diabetic Association that recommends a low or very low carbohydrate diet as the best way to reverse obesity, prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes,” Payne said through an email.

Payne, who has been providing free public health education clinics throughout Cochise County for the past 10 years, has nearly 35 years experience in utilizing the science of biochemistry to formulate scientific, nutritional eating habits, according to his website.

He has educated more than 20,000 doctors and patients. Through seminars and consultations, he assists groups of physicians, diabetologists, hospitalists, diabetes educators, physical trainers and other health-related professionals in the field of disease prevention, using what he refers to as “correct human nutrition.”

A February workshop held in the lecture pod of Klein Center for the Performing Arts at Buena High School drew an estimated 300 people. The presentation, which was sponsored by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, included testimonials from sheriff’s deputies and the general public who have experienced significant weight loss and improved health benefits from the Ketogenic Therapeutic Diet.
